Home School Agreement

To ensure all of our children enjoy a happy and successful time at Oakington C of E Primary School, we place a high importance on working together with our families and school community. The following agreement intends to strengthen the collaboration between home and school and support every child in fulfilling their potential.

The family will:
  • Ensure that their child arrives at school on time.

  • Ensure that their child attends regularly, providing an explanation if their child is absent, and avoiding holidays in term time.

  • Ensure that their child makes a reasonable effort to do their homework.

  • Read at home regularly with their child. EYFS/KS1 at least five times a week and KS2 three times a week.

  • Attend Parent/Teacher consultations to discuss their child’s progress in the Autumn and Spring terms.

  • Foster in their children a positive attitude towards learning.

  • Ensure that their child attends school appropriately dressed, fully equipped and having had enough food and sleep.

  We will:
  • Provide a safe, caring and intellectually stimulating environment.

  • Encourage children to do their best at all times in both their work and their behaviour.

  • Encourage children to take care of their surroundings and others around them.

  • Ensure that children will have access to the full curriculum and every opportunity to achieve rigorous academic standards.

  • Inform parents by 9.30am in the case of unexplained absence.

  • Inform parents about what the teachers aim to teach the children each term.

  • Ensure all children, of whatever religion, race, gender, gift or impairment are included, and feel included, in every aspect of school life.

  Children will:
  • Work hard, quietly and always do my best, taking responsibility for my own learning.

  • Make reasonable efforts to complete my homework.

  • Be friendly and respectful to everyone in school.

  • Be helpful both to other children and to adults.

  • Remember to take good care of the equipment and the building.

  • Move around carefully so as not to hurt other people.

  Together we will:
  • Help identify and support any special educational needs or disabilities.

  • Encourage the children to follow the school’s rights and responsibilities.

  • Support the children’s learning to help them do achieve their full potential.

  • Work to build an excellent school.
